National Geographic Channel: "Living Wild: Vanishing Giants"

Producer, Writer, Correspondent

Nominated for an Emmy for Best Nature/Science documentary

A one-hour documentary for National Geographic Channel's Living Wild series on elephants in Thailand that followed one Thai woman’s heroic efforts to rescue domesticated and abused elephants in Thailand, whether from the streets of Bangkok or from cages along the remote Thai/Myanmar border. It also documents the phajaan ritual where young elephants are "broken" for work—caged, beaten, and starved—as domestic elephants are all over Asia. Documenting the phajaan touched off an international firestorm, including PETA protests, international news coverage, ultimately leading to members of the Thai royal family speaking out against this practice and legislative change banning the barbaric ritual.
